MONSTER HUNTER LEGION (Monster Hunter International #4) by Larry Correia: A Midnight Fairy Book Review

Hi everyone, Midnight Fairy here! Today, Ill give you the fourth installment of The Monster Hunter International series: Monster Hunter Legion! If you noticed we posted a series of review about the Monster Hunter books; it only shows how much we enjoyed the books! I hope y'all give it a shot too!

Synopsis:

Monster Hunter International might be the premier monster eradication company in the business, but they’ve got competition.

When hunters from around the world gather in Las Vegas for a conference, a creature left over from a World War Two weapons experiment wakes up and goes on a rampage across the desert. A not-so-friendly wager between the rival companies turns into a race to see who can bag the mysterious creature first.

Only there is far more to this particular case than meets the eye, and as Hunters fall prey to their worst nightmares, Owen Zastava Pitt and the staff of Monster Hunter International have to stop an ancient god from turning Sin City into a literal hell on earth.

✈ The Characters:

Owen Zastava Pitt and the rest of the gang are back! Well, with the exception of Sam (RIP, man!), everyone looked great. Owen is still funny, smart, strong, and well, a few thousand dollars richer (after killing The Old One, he got a lot money out of its PUFF). Owen is happily married to Julie and they always have each others' back in everything they do. I totally admire this couple, they both worry for the safety of the other but they trust each other and have enough confidence to know that no matter how dangerous their missions were, they can protect themselves and will pull through in the end. What I noticed about Julie since the first book is that she will do absolutely anything to help Owen, even though Owen ask her not to. This couple are sweet in a certifiably kick-ass way.

Since MHI#1, I've been shipping Trip and Holly hard. So, I was a little disappointed that there weren't many Trolly moments. Just a brief one in the start of the book and after that Holly was pretty much MIA until towards the last part.

Mosh is back. He was in a really dark place since his encounter with the Oni siblings in Book 2. However, the guy pulled through in the end when the ghosts of Mordechai and Bubba Shackleford talked to him into helping out Holly in rescuing the MHI Team that were trapped in the Last Dragon Hotel. Mosh faced his worst nightmare and eventually pulled out of his self pity and tried to do something for his brother. We'll probably see more of him in the next book.

Agent Myers got demoted, poor guy! There's a new head of MCB and if you read Monster Hunter Alpha, you know how annoying Agent Stark is. He's basically a puppet and everyone hates his guts including Earl and Agent Franks.

I loved the inter-specie romance between an Orc and an Elf--- Ed and Tanya! They are so adorable.

✈ The Action:

Oh man, the action is just perfect! It's gripping and always puts me at the edge of my seat. The encounters with several supernatural beings are epic, but my favorite is the last one, the fight with the dragon. That was really awesome!

✈ The Writing:

It's pretty good. I still don't get the guns and ammos talks but the humor makes up for it. I loved the action scenes! The plot is brilliant as always, and there's a lot of character growth in this book as well. The story is riveting and the switching of POVs are not confusing at all. I liked it, and I'm looking forward to read the next book!

I highly recommend this book to action and urban fantasy readers.

✈ Rating: 5 Fairy Wings!
