☢ MONSTER HUNTER VENDETTA (Monster Hunter International #2) by Larry Correia: A Rock Chick Fairy book review

Hello everyone! Rock Chick Fairy here! I've been busy hauling books into my lair. haha! But now I'm back and I have another action packed book for y'all!

As you may have read on our earlier post, The Midnight Fairy, The Dragon Fairy and I reviewed MONSTER HUNTER INTERNATIONAL. Well, we LOVE it so much that we are reviewing the next books!

First stop... MONSTER HUNTER VENDETTA!

EPIC BOOK!

Vendetta. That is what this book is all about. I looked up the meaning of this word and came up with this:

VENDETTA - A prolonged bitter quarrel with or campaign against someone

Indeed, this was prolonged and it was like a very big campaign against Owen, our hero. I can never get over how well-thought-of the plot is. It's larger than life, that's what it is. Imagine having all of the "otherworld" looking for you because your name has been dropped and you have been framed for something that you never did. ISN'T THAT JUST PLAIN UNFAIR? Gosh. However, that made the book more interesting. How would Owen prevail when bad luck seems to come one after the other? This installment is still filled with action, adventure, swear words, fire power and monsters to kill! I'm sure it'll leave you wanting more!

If you have read the first books (OF COURSE YOU MUST READ THE FIRST BOOK!!!), this book will be an enlightening one. It explains a lot and it will make you understand the characters in book 1. I like knowing that there's something more to a character... MHV sure made it real! You will be shocked with who's who, who's what and so on.

I like how the characters grew from how they were in the first book.

Owen is more mature now. Even though his temper has risen and he kinda thinks that the world revolves around him (but it does! It really does!!) ... He's still a pretty decent guy, BRAVE (to the point wherein he could be called stupidly brave), CARING (too caring) and ONE HELL OF A MONSTER HUNTER. He's still badass.

Julie on the other hand, is a surprise. I wasn't convinced with how she and Owen got together in book 1. They weren't much of a couple there. However, she has proven her self here. I guess the author felt the need to redeem their relationship. Well, he more than succeeded in it. This is good because Owen acts out of feelings and his feelings mainly revolve around Julie. I am looking forward to the mystery regarding Julie's involvement with the otherworld. I'm sure they'll overcome the problem no matter what... guns blazing!

Earl is also a surprise. He was softer in this sequel. I mean, he shows his feelings more and since we got a glimpse of his past, it was also enlightening.

What was my biggest surprise in this book?

FRANKS. OH MY GOODNESS FRANKS. Now that's my kind of a bodyguard!!! Can I have my own Franks?! He's tough. I'll bet he's tougher than Earl. When I found out about his secret, I swear my jaw dropped to the floor. What a guy! I like him! I haven't decided on who I like more... Franks or Earl. Hmm..

Trip and Holly? Not much action here, but there are "jealous moments" and "revelation moments". I wish to see more from them. I want to read about them hitting it off! THEY ARE MFEO!!! Made for each other!!!

THE BAD GUYS = EFFECTIVE

I think this is one of those books wherein you want to personally pulverize the head bad guy. This book made me think of real bad things to do to the villains! If the shadow man was in front of me right now, I'm going to put him inside a tanning machine for a year! Let's see what that does to him! Eviiill!!! Or Susan! That vamp will live forever with me torturing her,

Okay *breathe*

Anyway, the bad guys made this book super exciting, so I should thank them for that.

To wrap things up... THIS IS ONE GREAT BOOK. YOU SHOULDN'T MISS THIS IF YOU LOVE ACTION, ADVENTURE AND GUN FIGHTING. YOU SURELY WOULDN'T WANT TO MISS A SINGLE SENTENCE!

5 BADASS FAIRY WINGS FOR YA!
