Lily Atwood lives in what used to be called Washington, D.C. Her father is one of the most powerful men in the world, having been a vital part of rebuilding and reuniting humanity after the war that killed over five billion people. Now he’s running to be one of its leaders.
But in the rediscovered peace on Earth, a new enemy has risen. They call themselves the Revealed – a powerful underground organization that has been kidnapping 18 year olds across the globe without reservation. No one knows why they are kidnapping these teens, but it’s clear something is different about these people. They can set fires with a snap of their fingers and create a wind strong enough to barrel over a tree with a flick of their wrist. No one has been able to stop them, and they have targeted Lily as their next victim.
But Lily has waited too long to break free from her father’s shadow to let some rebel organization just ruin everything. Not without a fight.
** I have received this ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Lily Atwood just turned
eighteen.
There is a secret
organization called “The Revealed” who has been kidnapping 18 years old.
Apparently, Lily has been receiving letters/notes and she’s the only one ever
known to receive such threat. Her Dad is one of the most powerful people on
earth and he will do anything to keep her daughter safe (even locking her down
on her own house).
If you know you’ll be taken
what would you do? Do some reckless things? Enjoy life to the fullest? Fall in
love? Yes, Lily did all those things.
What made me read this book?
Have you see the cover and blurb? Yes? Then you know why and I bet you’ll read
this too.
This book is such a page
turner to which I couldn’t put it down. I love every character. I enjoyed every
part of it.
I love the twist!! I didn’t
saw that one coming. (okayyy I will not get into the details so I wouldn't spoil it for you)
The romance is okay. I wish
Kai & Lily had more time together. I’m also anticipating how their
relationship will develop in the second book despite of their differences. Also, Kai somehow reminds me of Four/Tobias Eaton from Divergent.
I love the ending! It keeps
you wanting more.. Yes, I hate cliff-hangers but this one ain't.
I thought this is a
standalone but I’m relieved to know that there’s a next one. I will be one of the
many who will be looking out for the next book!
