Another great book by Mia Sheridan!!!
Her last book Archer’s Voice is a phenomenal hit. It’s very impressive and extraordinary that it puts the author in such a pedestal.
The follow up book next to that should be at par or should be greater than the
last, well at least this should be the case. No author would want to follow up
her knockout by a mediocre one, do they? I have to say that Mia had equaled, if not
surpassed Archer’s Voice. Becoming Calder is such a delightful book. I don’t think
I’ve ever read something like this before and reading this is so, so much
more!! It’s such an experience and I’m very grateful for the remarkable ride. Since this is such an experience, the emotions you will feel are profound and it will leave you with something you would cherish and treasure.
When I started reading this, I was confused, mind boggled and puzzled. The world
that they live in is bizarre, I kept asking myself, "what is this?" "Is this dystopian? Fantasy?Another world in another universe?" It seems like our world but oh so
different. As I go along, I theorized some concepts, umm maybe this, maybe
that. I need to tell you that you should not get discouraged by this. Read
on, go with the flow and you’ll understand all of that in the end because this
is an experience you should not miss. This is an incredible read and I assure
you, you’ll be more than satisfied for this wonderful encounter.
Calder grew up in this crazy world. He’s the type of guy who
follows the rules and do his tasks as meticulously as possible. He’s also a
dreamer, a guy who dreams that there is another life aside from being a
water bearer. He's the type of guy who would do and exhaust every means to make
those dreams come true. In this place
where ambitions are not tolerated and dreams have no place, he dared to craft
his vision and possess that one thing that’s a big no no and banned from them.
Eden came to their place when she was just a child. There’s a plan for her, so she’s treated like
a princess. She’s kept in the lodge together with the other members of the
council and their children. She’s forbidden to go out and play with the
commoners. She’s the epitome of obedience. She follows everything that’s been
said to her. But there’s one thing she wants and hopes to have. She fell in
love with a boy that’s not destined for her. And in this crazy world they live
in, being together is hopeless and impossible.
Becoming Calder is a beautiful love story of two individuals
who fought for their love no matter what the consequences will bring. They
dared to hope of being together in a situation that they don’t have any control
and no power to survive. A world that was built on pure lies and deception. A world
that confused them and made them question what is right and wrong, what is true
and untrue.
This is one hell of a roller coaster ride for me. I've never felt
so many emotions while reading a book!! I was skeptic, I was angry and I literally
snorted with disgust. I questioned Hector’s sanity, wanted to punch him in his
face more than once, and craved that the Gods will take him away from Eden and
Calder and wished he will just vanish from earth. I fell in love with how they
love each other, my heart swelled with longing and desperation on their helplessness.
I swooned and gasped with the beauty of their love. I dreamed of a love like
theirs and wished it’s me in the book. There was a part that thrilled me,
scared me, and cried with them when they cried.
Mia had done it again! Becoming Calder is beautifully written,
each scenes are well coordinated. There are so many exquisite lines that I almost
highlighted the whole book. I had fun creating such stunning teasers. And I sincerely
hope that you’ll enjoy them as much as I enjoyed making them.
This is the first part of a two-part series. And since both
books are being released simultaneously, you will not wait long to read the
next part. And I tell you, after reading the last part you would want to start
the next one right away!

MY REVIEW: FINDING EDEN

I have no words for this beautiful
book. Except that I cried so many tears. I may have cried harder in this book
than in Becoming Calder. They are good tears by the way. So good that I will
gladly go through with that and cry again to once again experience this feeling that one has after finishing a really, really good book.
Finding Eden is the continuation of
Becoming Calder. At this point, you may want to ask or you must be asking
yourselves these questions. What’s going to happen next? What about their love?
Are they going to be together after that? Will they move on? Will fate bring
them together again? What if the other had moved on? What was Acadia? Who is
Hector? Who is Eden? Who is Calder? What now? This is a full novella, what
drama will Mia make me read this time?
One thing I need to tell my
fellow readers is that Mia did not create this story half baked. All things will be
answered. Just be patient and read. Mia had woven a complete web that will
surely ensnare the imagination and satisfaction of every reader. Her concoction
is full of creamy goodness with cherries on top. This is a full meal course
with dessert and coffee in the end of the delicious meal.
For fear of being redundant
and sounding like a crazy lunatic telling you again and again that this is a great book and
that this is an incredible reading experience… blah blah blah … and yada yada, I
will just leave you with this: In this fast paced world we live in, the need to
prioritize those things that are worthy of your time and effort is a must. This series is definitely one of those things.
