✙ TUESDAY TRACKBACK - THE HALLOWED ONES (The Hallowed Ones #1) by Laura Bickle: A Dark Fairy book review

Hi everyone! Dark Fairy here! I've been busy, so this is just my first post here and I believe I chose well. I hope y'all like and read it!

Ladies and gents, I give you... The Hallowed Ones! 

Wow! 

I finished reading this book at 3:30 A.M. I have been blown away by the story.

This book was recommended to me by a friend. At first, I was hesitant to read it because it's boring. But gradually, I got hooked.

It tells the story of Katie, a girl who was born in the Amish community. She was raised to be an obedient girl and was conditioned that she will marry Elijah, her childhood friend, after being baptized in the Amish faith. She was the rebellious type and wanted to taste the life Outside.

Before the day of Rumspringa, the day they were allowed to venture outside, disaster struck. A "contagion" was said to be spreading rampantly in the country that wiped-out two-thirds of the world's population, and leaving infected "vampires" in their wake.

The Elders in Katie's community decreed that no one was to be allowed outside and no Outsiders will be brought in.

It was then that Katie saw a man wounded just outside the perimeters of their community. The Elders declared that no one should bring the man inside their properties. But she helped him in secret, fearing the retaliation and punishment of God for her disobedience of the Elders' edict.

This is where the story starts to get interesting. It turns out, that only "holy places" are safe from these creatures of the night. Since every house in Katie's community have been used as a Church, then they are on safe grounds. They will only be in trouble if they invite the "vampires" in or go out to them.

But somebody did unknowingly(?) let them in... And now they are murdering Katie's people...

This a very intriguing book if I may say so. I want to know how these creatures are made. And how Katie will kill all of these "vampires". With the help of Alex of course. And did I mention that I'm relieved that Katie did not end up with Elijah? The cowardly, fickle-minded guy? I am also pissed with the Elders for manipulating and keeping the facts from the rest of the community. I am so looking forward to reading book 2.
