✰✰ VIRTUAL BOOK TOUR - MATT ARCHER: REDEMPTION (Matt Archer #5) by KENDRA C. HIGHLEY + GIVEAWAY + REVIEWS FOR BOOKS 1 AND 2 by the Rock Chick Fairy ✰✰

Young Adult Paranormal

Date Published: July 3, 2014

“There’s more to me than you know…”

When Matt Archer’s sister, Mamie, said those words to him three years ago, he had no idea how prophetic they were, or what this would mean for his family.

Now, he knows. And it changes everything, bringing the war right to Matt’s doorstep.

In the epic conclusion to the Matt Archer series, the endgame is near. Betrayed by an enemy, the wielders have been called off the hunt by their own government, despite increasing reports of paranormal activity—and deaths—worldwide. Matt is forced to sit on the sidelines, knowing that proving monsters exist means revealing who—and what—he is. Soon the world will know his name…which will only make his job harder.

Matt’s only hope resides with a man he barely knows—his father. If Erik Archer can put together the final puzzle before the monsters do, maybe they’ll have a chance. Maybe.

Mystery, tragedy and the power of family combine as Matt races to win the war and save the people he loves. There’s just one thing he’s afraid of…

It might already be too late.

ROCK CHICK FAIRY REVIEWS BOOKS 1 AND 2!

Matt Archer: Monster Hunter (Matt Archer #1)

Matt Archer... Where do I even start?

Awesome title for an awesome main character! Matt Archer is by far, the most badass fifteen year old boy I've ever met in fiction land.

This book is indeed exciting, exhilarating and very edgy! This is all about a boy who suddenly finds himself in the middle of a worldwide battle against creatures that only existed in movies and in nightmares. Matt was a normal boy with normal insecurities. He had the not-so-normal bully problem at school. He also had the normal loneliness that's to be expected from a kid who was left by his dad and is being taken care of by his mom together with his uncle, whom, incidentally is a guy from the military. His uncle introduces him to a world that anybody else would say never existed.

I found out many things about Matt as he tries to adjust to his new life. Killing monsters while still attending school sure isn't loads of fun. However, he made it seem fun! I think he was having the time of his life. I think what happened to him was some kind of a blessing to him because he learned how to stand up for himself, plus, he bulked up in the process. This eliminates his bully problems at school. However, as his development goes on, the enemy was also getting stronger. He faced many challenges here and oh! What an adventure!!!

The other characters are also quite very active. I personally like Matt's brother and sister. It's my dream to have both, but was just blessed with a sister. Let me tell you this, these siblings are tight. They might not seem very close, but if you read between the lines, you'd see that they are really invested as a family. Maybe it's the silent understanding that since they were all left behind by their dad, might as well be there for each other. I also love the way their uncle treats them. He's the protector and he's their proper father figure. If you ask me, they are oh so lucky to have him in their life.

I just have to say this...

Matt is only 15 and I think his friend is 15 too. This is why I find it odd that they talk like adults. Even from the start, Matt's POV is like an 18 year old's. Maybe this is due to his family life. He's bound to think ahead of his age because he was abandoned. It's just kind of confusing because when he talks about the girl he likes, he acts just the way a fifteen year old should. I guess it's not necessarily a bad thing. I just want to inform you guys in advance before reading this. Expect that Matt talks and acts older. :)

All in all, this is one grand start for a series! I can't believe how late I am in reading this! I recommend this to everyone who loves action, adventure,  a hint of drama and love here and there. :) If you've read MONSTER HUNTER by LARRY CORREIA (if you search in our blog, you'd see that we are avid fans of that series), I am quite sure that you will like this too! :) 5 FAIRY WINGS!!!

Matt Archer: Blade's Edge (Matt Archer #2)

PERFECT SCORE!!!

I received a review copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

GROWING UP. --> These are two words that would best describe this sequel.

Matt has definitely grown up. In this book, Matt has physically grown (LOTS). I would also say that he has grown up emotionally and mentally. This is because he isn't thinking just about himself anymore. Now he's also thinking of other people. People who have become his responsibility albeit unintentionally. He needs to think first before acting. He needs to prove that he's worthy of the blade and he needs to be grounded. I like how the author showed Matt's teenage mind. You'd see that he's kinda caught in between adulthood and young adulthood. So many responsibilities rest on an almost 16 year old. He can only handle so much. I would say that he handled stress very well though. He's not your typical teen who panics and all that. He's ready and he's learning things in a stride.

MATT AND HIS LOVE LIFE

I saw that coming. I really did. I think he doesn't need ANY DISTRACTIONS either. LOL. Plus, remember when super heroes gets the girl... IN THE END? Well, this isn't the end yet. This is just the beginning so... love just has to wait. Sorry, Matt (not sorry at all hah!).

MATT AND THE FAMILY

I just love his mom's support. That's all I can say without giving away much. Mamie is still always there and by far one of the best sisters in my fiction land. Brent... ugh... jealousy is so unbecoming. I wanted to pull him out of the book and punch him myself when he least suspects it! On the brighter side, the addition to their family is kinda cool too. I truly hope that I get to read about that pony after 6 years! ^_^

MATT AND THE TEAM

I think they rely on Matt more now and they believe in him more. I keep on waiting for one cocky soldier to screw it all up with Matt, but I got nothing. They are aware that he's needed in their mission and they respect him for that even if he's just a little (err.. not so little anymore) kid. His uncle is also finding out piece per piece that his nephew is growing up to be a strong hearted young man. Will, on the other hand, has issues of his own. How I wish that he could also just continue to be on Matt's side. I dread the day wherein the author would kill Matt's uncle or Matt's best friend. T______T

THE ACTION

I CANNOT ASK FOR MORE ACTION. Seriously It's there. IT'S TOTALLY THERE! Action packed and very, very, very thrilling! Zombies, big insects, demon like creatures! Whew! The author could really come up with badass creatures. O_O

THE TWIST

I... am totally speechless. If you read this book, I'm sure you will be, too. The plot just gets thicker and thicker. I'm happy because Matt cleared things up from his past. I am also excited for him because I'm pretty sure that somewhere down the many next books.. he will be meeting a very special person. I can't wait!! I am a firm believer of this author because of the surprises that her books have. I'm only in the second book and I'm already hooked. I can just imagine myself getting to the bottom of this series. I think I am going to have one hell of a series hangover.

WHAT YOU SHOULD LOOK FORWARD TO

You should look forward to how Matt defeats the blade. Yes, the blade. If he wants to use the blade for a long time, he must learn how to control it and not the other way around. This is the main point of this book, so watch out for it!

ALL IN ALL

AWESOME, EMOTIONAL, ACTION PACKED, EYE OPENING BOOK! I recommend this book to everyone!
