✯ ✯ ✯ TALENTED by SOPHIE DAVIS - A SUNBURST FAIRY BOOK REVIEW ✯ ✯ ✯

SYNOPSIS

Block it out. Impossible for Talia Lyons. When you’re a Mind Manipulator, it’s hard enough to block the thoughts of others, let alone your own.

Block it out. The pounding, siren-ready world Talia inhabits as she trains with her fellow Hunters, the country's top-secret covert operatives. The physical demands. The emotional toll.

Block it out. The secrets that Talia’s boyfriend is hiding. Talia’s unbidden feelings of frustration and annoyance toward her teammate, the Casanova of the compound. The wondering why she cares what he thinks.

Block him out. Ian Crane. The man behind the bloodshed marring Talia’s memories of her murdered parents. The man she’s determined to kill.

Block it all out. Focus.

Talented is an emotionally raw Dystopian Romance, about the life of a girl with extraordinary psychic powers, and what happens when a heart is torn between love and rage.

A SUNBURST FAIRY REVIEW

ARC provided by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

First, I want to say I really am lucky to be given a copy of such a nice, REALLY nice story! So this deserved to be told and shared. :)

The story is set in the future, Earth in chaos and the world is under nuclear contamination. Due to this, children with abnormalities are born. They are the Talented. With special skills as Mind manipulators, telekinetics, or morphers. They are especially trained to master their skills and abilities to make good use of their difference among normal children for the government.

Talia is among them. She's a mind manipulator. She trains to be a Hunter. To kill who have killed her parents before her eyes.

It is an action-packed adventure, with a touch of romance in it. They are like soldiers who serve and protect the government, under an agency they call Toxic. However, should they rather protect themselves because there surely is something going they are not aware of or they continue to blindly follow what they are trained and ordered for? Also, whom Tal has real feelings for?

The characters are nicely rounded,

Natalia, is strong physically and emotionally. I liked that she is not proud and know when she needed the help of others and that she can balance her emotions and task at hand.

Penny with her bright and bubbly personality! I was very thankful she was in the story or it could have been all that serious. Penny is Talia's other outlet and sole girl friend.

Also, the father-like Henri. Who reminds her about curfews and who guides her during training.

Of course, Erik. :) her strong, nice, sweet, and caring team/cabin mate.

Let us also not leave, DONOVAN. The cheating bastard. Really, I am not his fan. :3 I could tell from the beginning there is something off with him. And sure there is!

The ending? I liked it less that it is that cliffy. HMMMP. Also, because I cannot give  a SPOILER IN HERE, I mean the epilogue should at least help but.. Well. Plus, the fact that I do not have the second book to read right away ughhh. U.U

All in all, this is a good book and nice nice start for a series! ^_^

Recommended to those who have the second book :D and who are okay with cliffhangers.

I'm rating it 4.5 fairy wings!
