✽ROAD TRIPPING by Noelle Adams: A Midnight Fairy Book Review✽

Synopsis:

Ethan was Ashley’s secret crush, until he became an asshole.

Asshole is too good a word for him. It’s bad enough that he stopped talking to her brother, who was his best friend since preschool. It’s even worse that he went wild and got involved with criminal types. But the worst thing of all is the way he trapped her on this ridiculous road trip.

That’s what it is. Ridiculous. It just isn’t normal for a girl to get dragged from Virginia to South Dakota in a stolen car with just $1000 in cash. With Ethan Moore, who is way too hot and way too infuriating to be tolerated. But she’s stuck with him on a trip that is taking way longer than it should, sharing cheap hotel rooms, destroying cars, and eluding bad guys.

Yep. There are bad guys chasing them. Even worse guys than Ethan, and that’s saying a lot.

Plus, she’s having trouble keeping her hands off Ethan. In fact, she’s falling for him hard—when she isn’t wanting to wring his neck.

So, for two crazy weeks, her pride, her heart, and her life are all threatened. Ashley isn’t sure which she’ll lose first.

Review:

An ARC was provided by the author for an honest review.

The first thing that intrigued me about this book is the title. I'm going on a vacation really soon (on the 23rd) and I thought maybe this one could give me ideas on what to do for my one month vacation. However, when I started reading it, I was completely surprised. All I can say is that I will never want to go on a road trip like Ethan and Ashley had! No freaking way! Their trip was a disaster! But despite bad guys pursuing them, stolen cars, cheap motel rooms, dirty gas station bathrooms, and blistered feet--- Ethan and Ashley had the most memorable and life changing two weeks of their lives.

✽The Characters:

Ashley is trying to be a "good-girl"to compensate for what her brother did--- being part of an illegal distribution ring of a substance called moonshine. I think she didn't want to add more problems for her parents that's why she is trying to always do good and smart things. However when she bumps into Ethan-- her brother's ex best friend and her old crush, she just couldn't turn away from him, even though he was being chase by bad guys with guns. Honestly, I'm not sure whether to call Ashley brave or just plain crazy by jumping into a road trip with Ethan. I guess her feelings for the guy never really went away despite how things went down after her brother and Ethan were arrested for the moonshiner thing. Still, I like Ashley's tenacity. She never left Ethan despite all what went wrong all throughout their "road-trip". She's also funny and loves goading Ethan.
“Can I please get a kiss first?”

Ethan’s eyes were very speaking, but he didn’t move immediately.

So she teased, “I guess you’re afraid you won’t live up to your reputation. I don’t blame you. I’ve experienced some really good kissers. You probably couldn’t hope to equal the kind of kiss I got from…”
Ethan on the other hand is a typical alpha hero. At first I was really turned off because of what he does, it's a little hard to like a character who is involved in criminal activities. However, as I read along, it was not that hard to like Ethan. He's just a good guy that was caught in a web to help a friend out. In this case, Ethan and Ashley's adventure started because Ethan already want out of the moonshiner business. Ethan is tough and is brutally honest but he's also a closet romantic.
“I admit it,” he replied resignedly, leaning his head back against the pillow. “Love has turned me into a cuddling fiend. It’s humiliating, really. And if you ever mention it to anyone, I’ll be forced into some elaborate method of vengeance.”
✽The Story:

The plot is pretty straight forward. Two people caught in a very dangerous situation,  they had to run away from the bad guys, and  while being chased, they explored their old feelings that was once buried due to unfortunate events in the past. There were no plot twists or whatsoever but what you can look forward to are the mishaps that occurred while they were on the road. It was both frustrating and hilarious!
***Day Three:

“Surely tomorrow will be better.”

“That’s what you said yesterday. And look what happened today.” She shifted some to get more comfortable, but then stopped abruptly, not wanting to disturb Ethan. “Tomorrow we’ll probably be attacked by giant snakes. Or hoards of killer bees.”

Or both,” Ethan added, getting into the spirit.

***Day Four:

Something was crawling all over her.

She shrieked frantically when she saw that she was covered with little black ants. Then she couldn’t stop shrieking.

“I know,” he said in a low voice, still trying to brush them off her arms. "You were lying on an anthill.”

This is me laughing hysterically!

✽Rating:

I'm giving this book a 3.5 Fairy Wings rating. It was a very entertaining read. I really did not expect action when I picked the book but it worked well for the story. I enjoyed the banters between the characters, their misadventures and of course the romance. I loved the epilogue too!

“They’d be crazy to want to find us, what with the malfunctioning cars, police chases, and attack ants. For their own safety, they should just leave us alone.” Ethan’s voice was clear and wry in the dark room.

Ashley chuckled and turned over so she was looking at him. She could only see his face very faintly. “Maybe tomorrow will be better.”

“Don’t even say it. Tomorrow I’ll probably be shot.”
