Her Highland Hero
Publication Date: July 1, 2014
Genres: Historical, Romance
Lady Isobel is a Norman laird’s daughter, living near the Scots border where her father, Lord Pembroke, is trying to keep the peace. But her mother was a Highlander and the man Isobel loves most of all is Laird Marcus McEwan, who has been bringing news of her mother’s people for years. But now Isobel’s father wishes her wed to an English nobleman, who will carry on his title. Isobel will wed no other man but her heart’s desire—and that is one braw Highlander from her mother’s homeland.
Laird Marcus McEwan has loved the feisty lass forever. For years, Marcus has tried to convince Lord Pembroke to allow him to wed his daughter. But the Norman lord will not allow it. Then ambushes and murders make it too dangerous for Marcus to reach a peaceful resolution.
Nothing goes as planned and keeping the lass for his own is fraught with danger, as they try to determine who was behind the killings. Isobel and Marcus will do everything in their power to ensure they are together as they have always vowed they would be.

A FIRE FAIRY REVIEW
I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
Her Highland Hero is the 6th book of Terry Spear's The Highlanders. If you've been following this series then you would definitely love Isobel and Marcus' story. Even though every book in the series is a stand-alone, I would still suggest to read them in order to make them more enjoyable.
Isobel and Marcus have always always been in love with each other. But with the strain between the Scots and the English getting worse, and Isobel's father forbidding their union, it was almost impossible for them to be together. But when tragedy strikes, Marcus is the only person that can keep Isobel safe. And in order to protect her, Marcus will have to claim her as his. And for the rest of the story... You have to read the book!
Her Highland Hero has all the things every Historical Romance reader loves. A brave heroine, a handsome and strong hero, the highlands landscape, Scottish English, and a romance filled with excitement and adventure. Filled with intrigues and surprising twists, this book will keep you excited and eager for the next page.
The two main characters are so endearing. Isobel is very brave and knows exactly what she wants. She wants Marcus and there is noone else for her but him. I love how she defends the people she loves. there was a scene telling a story about her breaking her suitor's nose when they were young because he was insulting her mother. I love her for it! That was very admirable. And dear, dear Marcus. Who wouldn't love a handsome laird as persistent as Marcus? Even though there's a very low chance of Isobel's father accepting him for Isobel, he still asks for her hand, four times, while maintaining respect and courtesy to the man.
I loved the connection between Isobel and Marcus. I can almost feel the love they feel for each other whenever they interact. Terry Spear has made sizzling chemistry between them without being too erotic. Though I admit, the sex scenes were a bit awkward for me. The words were too euphemistic and I am more comfortable with hot steamy words. I understand, though. I was a hardcore fan of historical romance once and euphemism on steamy scenes was definitely preferable for me during that time.
If you haven't read the other books in The Highlanders series, do it now. This book will be more enjoyable if you've read the other stories. You'll appreciate this book more since most of the other characters have been featured on the other books. I assure you, this is a very good series and I highly recommend it to all historical romance fans.
I'm giving Her Highland Hero 4 Fairy Wings. I loved the highland settings and the intrigue-filled plot. Terry Spear has created another wonderfully romantic story with lovable characters. I can't wait for the next book in the series.
EXCERPT
When she saw Rob on foot, his
sword drawn, two horses nearby, she nearly cried out with relief. "'Tis
me," she said, hoping no one else would hear her but Rob and his kinsmen
serving as her escort and not her own men.
"My lady." Rob
quickly helped her to mount the spare horse.
She then saw six men, all
wearing trewes and tunics, all nodding their greetings, several fighting
smiles, though she knew this was a deadly business and if her men found her
with the Highlanders, they would attempt to kill every one of them for taking
off with her. But she suspected the men were glad to see her when she wished to
visit Marcus and maybe even lift his spirits.
"They are all of the
clan," Rob said. "Come, we must ride quickly and return as soon as we
can. We want no one to learn that you have slipped away."
"Aye. Is he…is he
well?"
"Aye, lass. He will want
me skinned alive when he learns we have done this, but I know you, and I believed
‘twas safer this way, than worrying if you'd try to do this on your own."
