Coral & Bone by Tiffany Daune
Publication date: July 7th 2014
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult

Synopsis: Halen knows the sparks igniting under her fingertips are dangerous. She has spent her entire life trying to quell the tingly feelings that make her destroy things, but now that she is back in Rockaway Beach, where she watched her father drown, the flames have become impossible to tame.
Halen is trying to hold on, but when she is thrust into a mysterious new world, the underwater realm of Elosia, she unravels the secrets of her past and can’t help but ignite. As she explores Elosia, she realizes her life has been a lie. And when those who have deceived her come to her for help, Halen must choose—walk away or unleash the magick that could destroy them all.

(I received this copy in exchange for an honest review).

Whew! What an adventure!

So what can I say about Coral and Bone? First things first. The cover, I just think that the cover is gorgeous, don't you? That's what attracted me first to read this story.

Next is the plot, it's intriguing to say the least. I've been curious from the  first line who Halen was, what her powers are exactly and who the boy she has been "day-dreaming" about is. The story just builds and builds and builds and will only give you a hint of what is truly happening. It will make you want to read faster to get to the "juicy" parts!

I am pleased to say that I was not disappointed with the story. It gives a new and fresh perspective to the much-cliched-tale of the sirens, mermaids and such other creatures. This novel will hook you with the multiple villains who have their own agendas, mysteries and questions that keep piling up on every page.

I have pieced together one of the most important information in the novel and so I was not surprised when it was revealed near the end. Haha! (*pats myself on the back).

Looking forward to reading the sequel of the story!

My rating: 3 Fairy Wings

I write stories about magick, love and dark creatures lurking in the shadows. When I'm not lost in Edit Land you can find me reading a book from my towering TBR pile or at the movie theater nibbling licorice. I don't have a lucky number, but my favorite time is11:11. I completely believe that the fortunes found inside cookies will come true and that you must be careful when wishing on stars. I live on an island, so if you want to visit you'll need a boat, and if you want to survive the passage, be sure to bring candy for the mermaids.

  1. This sounds really intriguing and I love it when an author can take a paranormal being that's used a lot and make something unique out of it. Mermaid books can be a hit or miss for me but I like the sounds of this one. Glad you liked it! :)

  2. Thank you for the giveaway, I loved the post.

  3. I want to read this book so bad! I'll buy this really soon! I was sold a mermaid & then I see its a dark story w/ romance, sold. Glad its a adventure. You mentioned a lot of positive aspects. Why did you give this three stars. . . was it too predictable?
