Withering Hope by Layla Hagen: A Book Review by Mauve Fairy

Withering Hope by Layla Hagen

Aimee’s wedding is supposed to turn out perfect. Her dress, her fiancé and the location—the idyllic holiday ranch in Brazil—are perfect.

But all Aimee’s plans come crashing down when the private jet that’s taking her from the U.S. to the ranch—where her fiancé awaits her—defects mid-flight and the pilot is forced to perform an emergency landing in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.

With no way to reach civilisation, being rescued is Aimee and Tristan’s—the pilot—only hope. A slim one that slowly withers away, desperation taking its place. Because death wanders in the jungle under many forms: starvation, diseases. Beasts.

As Aimee and Tristan fight to find ways to survive, they grow closer. Together they discover that facing old, inner agonies carved by painful pasts takes just as much courage, if not even more, than facing the rainforest.

Despite her devotion to her fiancé, Aimee can’t hide her feelings for Tristan—the man for whom she’s slowly becoming everything. You can hide many things in the rainforest. But not lies. Or love.

Withering Hope is the story of a man who desperately needs forgiveness and the woman who brings him hope. It is a story in which hope births wings and blooms into a love that is as beautiful and intense as it is forbidden.

REVIEW

*Sigh

*Double sigh

Damn this book gave me a massive book hangover!! I can't get this out of my head and no matter what I'm doing, the story keeps on playing in my head! This is truly one of the best love stories I've ever read! Very remarkable indeed!

Tristan and Aimee were thrown together in a very unfortunate circumstance. Together, they stayed in order to survive. Together, they coordinated and teamed up in order to live. When the other is down, the other uplifts. When the other is hopeless, the other is optimistic. And when two people are thrown together for a long time, they get to know one another, and it’s inevitable that feelings will blossomed.

I know, I know. I am very vague with my review. It’s because I don’t want to say anything that will spoil this beautiful story. I read this not knowing what will happen. I didn't even read the blurb. All I knew was that this book had a very high rating by a very famous blog. I’m not sorry I went in and practically dove into the story blindly. I can’t keep my fingers from swiping the surface of my ereader!! I didn’t even want to get up from my seat to go to the bathroom and pee. That’s how this story kept my mind and myself glued to it. I kept on reading, wanting to know what happens next and next thing I know, I’m done with it. How I wish I could unread this and start over again!!

Truthfully, this is a perfect story for all romance readers. The element of danger and suspense is a plus factor. The romance is lovely and sweet, something endearing and touches the heart. The hardships the characters endured strengthens ones beliefs in hope and positivity.

Giving this novel 5 stars (fairy wings) seems to be a misdemeanor to the author. We really need to have a higher rating! Haha! There should always an exception to the rule. Because, this unbelievably spellbinding romantic novel deserves all the stars in the universe.

Kudos to Ms. Hagen for this tremendously amazing read! Definitely one of my top favorites!
