We are beyond excited to bring you the Release Day Launch for Courtney Cole's NOCTE! NOCTE is a New Adult dark romantic psychological suspense novel. Hang on tight because this book will blow you away...
SAVE ME AND I'LL SAVE YOU....
My name is Calla Price. I’m eighteen years old, and I’m one half of a whole.
My other half-- my twin brother, my Finn-- is crazy.
I love him. More than life, more than anything. And even though I’m terrified he’ll suck me down with him, no one can save him but me.
I’m doing all I can to stay afloat in a sea of insanity, but I’m drowning more and more each day. So I reach out for a lifeline.
Dare DuBray.
He’s my savior and my anti-Christ. His arms are where I feel safe, where I’m afraid, where I belong, where I’m lost. He will heal me, break me, love me and hate me.
He has the power to destroy me.
Maybe that’s ok. Because I can’t seem to save Finn and love Dare without everyone getting hurt.
Why? Because of a secret.
A secret I’m so busy trying to figure out, that I never see it coming.
You won’t either.

Disclaimer #1: I only had the title and the cover to go along with. I obviously read the blurb when I signed up, but I already forgot about it. I read the blurb again after finishing the book. My not reading the blurb added an air of mystery to the whole story. I'm not saying that this is what you should do too, I'm just saying that this is what happened.
Disclaimer #2: To those who have been following ny reviews, you already know this, but for those who don't, I would like to reiterate that I read with my heart. When I do reviews, there are times when I have to be detailed... For this one, I CAN'T BE THAT DETAILED, so I'll do the next best thing. I'll tell you guys how I FEEL about it.
Now onto the review...
How do you not cry for the beauty that is this book?
How do you not cry for the characters and their circumstances?
Calla is the daughter of a mortician. She's often teased about it, but we all know that it's not something to laugh about. She has a twin brother whom she really, really loves and to whom she's so attached to for a reason. She's that kind of a character who wants everything to be okay around her. She's loyal to people who matter. Loyal to the bone that she would do everything for them. I laughed and smiled with her character, I felt her frustration, her grief mingled with guilt.
By the end of this book, even though I was still feeling disoriented about everything, I always go back to the fact that her character lived throughout everything... And that is something that we should all commend her for.
Finn is a boy whom you'll feel sorry for all the time because of the things that life handed him. When you're not thinking about specific things about him, you'll find his character to be sweet, smart and utterly endearing. He has his demons, but one thing about him that no one can contest is that he really loves Calla. That's it and that's that.
Dare is one of the most resilient guys of my 2014 fiction world. I'm not saying that he's super strong and that he's a total badass (well, he is THAT too). I just can't imagine how he must have felt here while he's interacting with Calla. It takes a strong heart, a full conviction and a love like no other to do what he did.
I am very, very frustrated that I can't tell you more about his inner strength. Just know that Dare is someone that you'll look up to when all things are said and done. You'll salute him and you will be in awe because HE'S JUST THERE.
The plot, the plot, the plot... I actually have a hard time constructing this part of my review because I CANNOT, MUST NOT give out anything. I want everyone who will read this to have the full experience that I did.
Hmmm okay... So here goes:
The blurb says it all.
Kidding! Haha! It's just so hard...
The story revolves around Calla and her family. It revolves around their grief and their endurance as a family. There's also the creepy fact that they live in a funeral home. Somewhere along the way, Calla has appointed herself to be her twin brother's protector. She would do everything for him... But in the process, Finn could be dragging her down with all of his issues. When Dare comes into the picture, Calla dares to dream about a life with him.
Is it possible for her to have a life outside of her family? That's the question in the novel.
The author sure made me feel. I felt tons of emotions like curiosity, fear, love, anger, frustration, suspicions, sadness.. I cried a million tears near the end of this book. Let me tell you this: It was a challenge to be super silent when you're crying at 3 in the morning!!!
Once I finished crying, I was alright and I was sort of happy for them. Then I found out that this would be a trilogy!!! OMG!!! I totally cried again!!To be honest, it was a mixture of emotions that made me cry again. I cried because for one, the mysteries!!! I thought it would be all out in the open already, so I was 5% frustrated. Mostly, I cried of happiness because I would get to see more of Dare and Calla. I hope that the next book would be in DARE'S POV. It will be more awesome that way.
All in all... This book is amazing. I cannot tell you just how much. It's just so damn precious that no one should DARE pass this up.
5 fairy wings!!!
A boy is attached to the dark gaze.
A man.
He’s probably no more than twenty or twenty-one, but everything about him screams man. There’s noboy in him. That part of him is very clearly gone. I see it in his eyes, in the way he holds himself, in the perceptive way he takes in his surroundings, then stares at me with singular focus, like we’re somehow connected by a tether. He’s got a million contradictions in his eyes….aloofness, warmth, mystery, charm, and something else I can’t define.
He’s muscular, tall, and wearing a tattered black sweatshirt that says Irony is lost on you in orange letters. His dark jeans are belted with black leather, and a silver band encircles his middle finger.
Dark hair tumbles into his face and a hand with long fingers impatiently brushes it back, all the while his eyes are still connected with mine. His jaw is strong and masculine, with the barest hint of stubble.
His gaze is still connected to mine, like a livewire, or a lightning bolt. I can feel the charge of it racing along my skin, like a million tiny fingers, flushing my cheeks. My lungs flutter and I swallow hard.
And then, he smiles at me.
At me.
Because I don’t know him and he doesn’t know better.
Courtney Cole is a novelist who would eat mythology for breakfast if she could. She has a degree in Business, but has since discovered that corporate America is not nearly as fun to live in as fictional worlds. She loves chocolate and roller coasters and hates waiting and rude people.
Courtney lives in quiet suburbia, close to Lake Michigan, with her real-life Prince Charming, her ornery kids (there is a small chance that they get their orneriness from their mother) and a small domestic zoo.
I love twists and turns in books! I can't wait to read NOCTE, sounds amazing!! Thanks for the giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI become bored when there aren't any twists and turns in a book. I look forward to them. I'm not a fan of cliff hangers but if a book doesn't have twists and turns, there's nothing to look forward to.
