Georgina is at the lowest in her life. Her brother had just died, and she's so depressed and filled with guilt she does't know what to do. So she tried to kill herself. Noel, Georgie's sister's best friend found her at that critical moment where she's almost gone and saved her. Months after the incident, Georgie is back and trying to get back her normal life. Noel doesn't understand why he's still so protective of Georgie. And Georgie becomes painfully aware of Noel as a man. What started as an older bro - younger sis treatment turned into a steamier romance. Is Noel ready for a serious relationship? Can Georgie trust Noel with her heart? Georgie knows Noel won't let anything happen to her. But is it the same as never leaving her side? And will Georgie's family accept him as Georgie's boyfriend and possibly, someone who will spend his life with her?
Kill Devil hills has probably one of the most beautiful book covers I've ever seen. The cover and the synopsis were what drew me to the book. The blurb was so intriguing that I felt like I need to read this book. I'm glad I signed up for an arc. This book was really a great read and the author didn't fail to deliver the blurb's promise.
I'm not a hardcore fan of New Adult but Kill Devil Hills is a sure keeper for me. The book is amazing in the sense that it's so realistic. Even the horrors of a suicide attempt really happens in real life. The book showed me that, as cliche as it may sound, there really is a rainbow after the rain.
Georgina's character touched me emotionally. Her character is painfully similar to someone I know and I really connected with her character. She may have done the worst thing possible but she survived and she decided to get her life back. She's a fighter and at the same time she has a lot of love to give. Noel grew up lacking in everything but he found his place in Ellie's family. Ellie is Noel's best friend and Georgie's sister. Noel is every girl's guy. He's responsible, nice, sweet and not to mention, hot and gorgeous. Yep, these two sure know how to heat things up! Aside from being an emotional book, Kill Devil Hills is also one hot, steamy, read! I love Georgie and Noel, but my favorite character would be Ellie. She's so freakin' cool! I wish I have an older sister like her. She's fun, loving, and knows what's best for everybody. I loved her most when she acts as the big sister to Georgie. She's also the funny aspect of the book. The rat issue cracked me up. It was hilarious!
Overall, the plot may not be original, but the author's style gave it a fresh new look and I think that's more important than creating an original story but failing to make par with the readers' expectations. Kill Devil Hills was excellently written. With its likable characters and engrossing story, I will definitely recommend this to all romance readers. I'm giving Kill Devil Hills 4 fantastic Fairy Wings!!!
