THE ALL-NEW KGI NOVEL from the “incredibly awesome" (Jaci Burton) #1 New York Times bestselling author of When Day Breaks.

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super-elite, top secret, family-run business.
Qualifications: High intelligence, rock-hard body, military background.
Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the U.S. government can’t...

The enigmatic Hancock has been both opponent and ally to the KGI teams for as long as they've known him. Always working a deep game, Hancock's true allegiance has never been apparent, but one thing is for certain—he never lets anything get in the way of duty.

But now, his absolute belief in the primacy of his ultimate goal is challenged by a captive he's been ordered to guard, no matter how much she suffers in her prison. She's the only woman who's ever managed to penetrate the rigid walls surrounding his icy heart, but will he allow his perplexing feelings for the beautiful victim to destroy a mission he's spent years working to complete or will he be forced to sacrifice her for “the greater good.”

A Rock Chick Fairy ARC book review

Honor and Hancock's story is thrilling, dramatic, full of action and full of internal conflict.

At first, I had my qualms about reading this book because I haven't read some of the most recent books in the KGI series. However, once I dove in, it became clear that it wouldn't be that big of a problem. Coming from the point of view of a reader who hasn't read many of the other books in the KGI series, I must admit that this book gives out a lot of information about Hancock's past. It won't let you get lost in the story.

Hancock isn't a person that you trifle with. He seems like the ultimate badass. He always acts for the "greater good" even when he hates it. He's a good man through and through, but his means of getting peace is bloody. His team has been to hell and back, so I truly got the impression that they were all ready to die one way or another. He's THAT dedicated.

Honor on the other hand, is also dedicated to what she does and that is helping other people. She has a big heart and a strong mind. She's a survivor and she'll do anything except give up.

I must admit, the feel of this book is somber and kind of hopeless. However, hope lies within Honor and her bravery. I admire her strength so much. Her mind is a beautiful thing. She's compassionate and also very clever.

When these two meet, they clash, but they also admire one another right away. It would have been perfect, but it became apparent that there will be a big problem because of Hancock's mission. Their journey starts to be filled with lies and betrayals. It's not pretty. I guess that's what readers have to look forward to. How would they get past all of that?

What I love about Maya Banks is that she doesn't disappoint when it comes to plots. This one has got to be her heaviest yet. The details of the middle eastern crisis were so crisp, it felt as if I was really there. When you read this, notice how well Maya Banks executes the first few chapters which details Honor's struggles. I am amazed with how well she described things.

Although I already predicted some of the events that happened in this book, I would say that I still enjoyed them when I read them.

The ending is satisfying and will make you breathe a big chunk of relief. I love how it ended.

All in all, I'm giving this book 4 fairy wings.
